Critical lower limb ischemia in Leriche syndrome following acute myocardial infarction: limb salvage with an axillofemoral bypass
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aortoiliac occlusive disease, known as Leriche syndrome, primarily merits an aortobifemoral bypass graft which is the standard surgical treatment of critical limb ischemia. However, axillofemoral bypass grafting can be also used as an alternative treatment in highrisk patients. The indications include intraabdominal graft infections, older age, and worsened overall status. In this article, a successful salvage of a limb with an axillofemoral bypass surgery in a critical leg ischemia subsequently developed soon after an acute myocardial infarction was reported.

Axillofemoral bypass with local anesthesia: a way forward to enable limb salvage in high-risk patients
For an active, ambulant patient with critical, lower limb ischemia, amputation can lead to a poor quality of life. A small group of older people with critical limb ischemia are considered at high risk for revascularization under conventional anesthesia owing to their comorbid conditions. In these cases, when endovascular therapy is not an option, the decision to amputate or revascularize presen...
متن کاملLATE EMBOLECTOMY FOR LIMB OR KNEE SALVAGE IN ACUTE LOWER LIMB ISCHEMIA: A NEW PROTOCOL
Embolectomy has long been the gold standard for treating limbs acutely threatened by arterial occlusion. Delayed embolectomy has not been investigated adequately due to the belief that accompanying mortality and morbidity render the case futile. Following our previous experience with late arterial repair for leg or knee salvage I we applied the same principle to limbs threatened with prolo...

INTRODUCTION The Authors reports their experience with the use of femoro-femoral cross-over bypass graft in the management of acute lower limb ischaemia. PATIENTS AND METHODS Fourteen femoro-femoral bypass graft were performed for acute lower limb ischaemia due to unilateral thrombosis of iliac and femoral artery in 8 cases, late unilateral occlusion of a branch of previous aortobifemoral byp...

We performed an extended extra-anatomic bypass to salvage the both lower extremities in a diabetic and obes woman who had critical ischemia in her both lower extremities. Patient also had several abdominal operations. The patient did not have a good arterial vasculature as inflow or outflow conduit in the right femoral region and she also had femoro-popliteal bypass which was occluded on the le...
متن کاملEndovascular Therapy of TASC-D Lesion in Critical Limb Ischemia
Critical limb ischemia (CLI) is a terminal stage of peripheral artery disease (PAD); it is defined by the presence of resting pain and/or tissue loss for at least two weeks that may require urgent revascularization to promote healing and prevent limb loss. For patients with infrarenal aortoiliac occlusive disease, the revascularization options are surgery like aortofemoral bypass and axillofemo...
